Empowering a Lifetime of Academic Success

How It Works

How We Can Help

At East Bay STEM Tutoring, we offer personalized tutoring services across all age groups. We specialize in tutoring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) subjects including a wide range of topics including algebra, biology, chemistry, physics, and many more. We are passionate about making traditionally difficult courses more approachable and understandable for our students. We believe this approach empowers our students to a lifetime of academic success.

One on One Lessons

Group Sessions

Our one on one lessons are designed to provide personalized attention to each student. Our tutor will work with students to improve competence and confidence. These are optimal for students that want to work at their own pace.

Our group sessions are designed to provide an interactive learning environment for students. Our tutor will work with a small group of students to ensure that each student receives individual attention. These are optimal for students working on the same subject that can all benefit from each other's questions.

Free Consultations

Ahead of the first lesson, we offer a free consultation to discuss with students and parents the best approach for each individual student. Additionally, after each lesson our tutor will work with you to understand your areas of opportunity and create a customized plan to help you succeed.

Logistics

We are eager to accommodate the best learning environment for each of our students, whether that is at your home, meeting at a public location such as a library, or an online lesson. During your free consultation we will discuss what arrangements will work best for you.

About Our Team

Matthew Metzger
Founder and Head of Tutoring

Hi, my name is Matthew! I’m the founder of East Bay STEM Tutoring and for years I have been a STEM tutor with a focus on helping students of all ages excel in their studies. I tutor throughout the East Bay in-person and virtually through Zoom. I have an academic background from UC San Diego, MIT, and UC Berkeley over the course of which I researched a broad range of biology topics. During my studies I found my passions for both science and teaching. Through tutoring I get to translate my experience into success and engagements for students. When I am not tutoring I work at Oxford Biotherapeutics, working to develop the next generation of cancer therapies. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed and I am here to help them reach their goals!

What Our Students & Parents Say

Simply put, Matt is the best tutor I have employed.
He brings a personal touch to tutoring because he not only teaches my daughter but makes her feel confident not only about what she is learning but how she is learning. Another major differentiation is Matt's ability to move through a variety of subjects seamlessly. This makes him a one-stop shop because he is equally equipped to help your students in whatever subject they need help with. Hire him...now!
